All Saints CWL Membership Drive Weekend
Saturday & Sunday | January 24 & 25 | After the 5PM, 9AM, and 11AM Masses
All Saints Catholic Women’s League (CWL) will be hosting its Membership Drive Weekend on January 24–25. CWL volunteers will be available after the 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday, January 24, and following the 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses on Sunday, January 25.
Current members are invited to renew their memberships, and all women of the parish 16 years of age and older are warmly encouraged to join our faith-filled sisterhood. Come learn more about CWL and how we support our parish, community, and one another through faith and service.
Why Am I a CWL (Catholic Women’s League) Member?
The question “Why am I a CWL member?” got me thinking and made me re-examine myself as a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL). Before now, I thought it was a very easy thing to say “I am a CWL member”, but the pertinent question is why. I strongly believe in the mission statement and not only that, I also think that if we genuinely work towards achieving that, the world would be a better place to live in.
1. Growing in faith: There is a passage in the Bible that I find very interesting and that is the scripture 2 Cor 5:17-21. As much as I’m grateful to God for my salvation, I am also challenged by this scripture passage; God saved me so that I can be a channel or instrument in His hands. This thought makes me want to reach out to as many people as possible through my testimonies and lifestyle.
2. Service to one another: Naturally, I like the people around me to be happy. I like an atmosphere of peace. How can that be achieved? Truly, it is quite difficult to achieve this one hundred percent considering life’s challenges, burdens and the losses we bear sometimes but there is still a way that each of us can contribute to a near peaceful atmosphere by helping others through our services, encouragement and prayers irrespective of who they are. As the scripture puts it – “We need to bear one another’s burden”.
3. Social justice: I often hear people complain that ‘the world is not balanced’. As true as this statement appears to be, we can still make the world better by being a voice for the voiceless, standing up for the oppressed and promoting Christian virtues in our societies. Looking at all these things, we may not be able to achieve so much as individuals, but our collective efforts will bring the desired change. To reference another scripture passage, “One will change one thousand, two ten thousand” (Deuteronomy 32:30). We are better united, hence, the need for belonging to a community where we can make a huge positive difference for our families, our church, our society and our world.
