Dear friends,
On June 28th I am celebrating my 40th anniversary of ordination. So many memories, so many beautiful experiences!
I was ordained in 1986 by Archbishop James Carney, a very good but rather strict bishop. He used to repeat this statement frequently: “Everything good in the parish comes from the priest, and everything bad in the parish comes from the priest.” After some years in ministry I came to realize that, while Archbishop Carney meant well, his statement is certainly not true.
Priesthood is a collaborative venture. A parish priest works alongside his bishop and his fellow priests, and with the essential support of both parishioners and parish staff. A priest is a team player.
As I draw close to my 40th anniversary, I remember with deep gratitude the many Catholics who have supported me in my ministry at St Patrick’s (Vancouver), St. Joseph’s (Langley) and here at All Saints, as well as the other communities where I served as parish assistant or administrator.
At All Saints, I am especially grateful for the support I have received from my Parish Leadership Team. Without them, the parish would never have grown as it has. The team’s prayerfulness and hard work have allowed the parish to thrive through participation in ALPHA, Rescue, Activate, CCO faith studies, First Communion family formation, parties for new school families, and so much more. Together we did it!
Thank you, Lorraine, Tammy, Keken, Ianne and Daniela, and thank you, my dear parishioners, for your constant support and affection.

Dear Fr. Don,
Thank you for saying "yes" to God's call and for faithfully serving His people.
May God continue to bless you with strength, joy, and peace.
