March 16th Pastor's Message

Read this week's message from Father Don

Dear parishioners,

Lent is a good time to deepen our prayer life.   What should we pray for? Here are some prayer requests our parishioners submitted to Jesus on the March 2nd Prayer Sunday:

Practical Needs:

  • good health, healing, addictions, pregnancy

  • mental health, discontent, motivation, peace of heart, freedom from anxiety, stress and inner confusion

  • finances, employment, housing, immigration issues

  • university acceptance, success in studies

  • peace in the world, Ukraine

Spiritual Needs

  • spiritual growth, coming closer to Jesus, prayer life, gratitude, generosity, patience, perseverance in trials

  • conversion, family and friends returning to the practice of the faith

  • guidance for big life decisions, discernment

  • the pope

  • the dead, comfort in mourning

Relationship Needs

  • family harmony, forgiveness, reconciliation

  • upcoming marriage, finding a life partner, improved communication in marriage, marital separation

  • friendship

During Lent I encourage you to have a family prayer time after Sunday dinner or some other day of the week

The suggested format is simple: light a candle in front of a crucifix; share one good and one bad thing that happened to you during the week; scripture and discussion; prayer for particular needs; closing prayer.  Weekly prayer sheets for March 16 - April 6 are available in the church foyer or on the parish website - https://www.allsaintsbc.ca/holy-week

Jesus cares about us and wants to support us in our needs. This Lent, let us turn to him with grateful and trusting hearts.

Love

Fr Don
