Upper Room Conference

October 21-22, 2022

Upper Room is a conference that inspires Catholics to live joyfully on mission and equips them to share their faith in their homes and communities.

This year’s Upper Room will help us to grow in confidence in God our loving Father, to reflect on the amazing gifts He has given to us through Jesus, and to live joyfully on mission.

Healing and Reconciliation

Watch Pope Francis Speech from this past July

In July, we witnessed Pope Francis travelling to our country to deliver a sincere apology to Indigenous people for the role Catholics played in a deeply flawed Residential School system. When we are able to set aside any defensiveness, we can truly see the harm caused by systems that resulted in abuse, the separation of children from families and the subsequent loss of culture and tradition.

The stage is now set for us to show our care for Indigenous people still suffering as a result of their experiences. Through your generosity we can mark this time as the shift from apology to action. Through Healing & Reconciliation Grants, we are investing in Indigenous led projects that contribute to healing, education and the steps needed for true reconciliation.

We will publish information regarding each project so that you can see the impact of your gift and deeply appreciate the heroes among us who accompany vulnerable and marginalized people in this region. Please prayerfully consider giving to this year’s collection. As many First Nations leaders have stated, the apologies were a critical step but now the real work of healing and reconciliation must continue.

World day of Migrants and Refugees

What is Your Cultural Heritage?

Come and celebrate it with us on the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees on Saturday, September 24, 2022. This year’s theme is “Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees.” We will start with Mass at 5:00 pm, followed by a celebration with a taste of the food and entertainment from various countries represented in our own Archdiocese. Our celebration will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver. If you have clothing to celebrate your cultural heritage, please come dressed up and help us to celebrate it! For more information, contact WDMR@rcav.org.
