Dear friends,
HAPPY FEAST DAY and thank you for making our parish such a wonderful community! All Saints is a beautiful parish and a great place to make friends. Sunday mass is lively and enjoyable and visitors and newcomers are made to feel welcome. We have fun together. What a blessing the parish is for all of us.
Queen of All Saints School had a fantastic Halloween party last Saturday. The DJ was dancing around wildly, the kids were jumping with glow sticks in front of the stage, the parents wore amazing costumes (Spice Girls, Super Mario, Winnie the Pooh). It was a real community celebration, just one of the many we host every year to make the parish a community that people want to belong to.
Belonging is so important. Everyone needs a place where they belong, a place where they are recognized and welcomed by name. Naturally, the first place of belonging is our family, the people we grew up with and are bonded to by birth and history. In addition, however, we need other communities of belonging. It could be a soccer team or a group of pub buddies or the local Starbucks. Or it could be All Saints Parish.
I would like All Saints to be one of the places where you feel that you belong, where you feel that you are known and valued by the other parish members. More than that, I would like All Saints Parish to be your second family, a family of both natural and spiritual bonding.
The Church is a unique community, established by Christ as a means of fashioning an enduring relationship between himself and his people. Like Christ himself, it combines the human and the divine. It is a community of human support and of spiritual growth. Belonging to such a community is a rare blessing.
All Saints Parish, what a great place to belong! I am deeply grateful that you have welcomed me into your hearts and pray that you too will be fortified by the friendships you make at All Saints. Here, we all belong.
